Volunteer

If you like to be where the action is, consider volunteering in an Amnesty International Australia Action Centre.

Working with limited resources, we always need volunteers to help with general administration - answering phones, processing requests, filing and photocopying. In time, however, many volunteers find themselves attached to a particular team.

Volunteers apply their expertise, develop new skills and become directly involved with campaigning, fundraising and promotion. In the Section Office (Sydney), for example, a dedicated team of volunteers handles much of the casework associated with refugee appeals. Others do media work, public speaking and coordinate networks and special projects.

Volunteers also enjoy the social contact and the atmosphere of the office. Through volunteering, many learn a great deal about Amnesty International and go on to join committees and specialist teams.
