As people in Gaza face relentless bombardment, death, and destruction on an unprecedented scale, Amnesty International is calling for an end to the transfer of arms to Israel.

Because of Australia’s opaque approval process, we don’t know what exactly is being exported from Australia.

The Government has consistently reiterated that Australia has not exported weapons to Israel for 5 years. But the Government hasn’t confirmed whether weapons parts manufactured in Australia have been approved for export where Israel will be the end user of the weapon.

That’s a problem because Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer of the F-35 fighter jet, has said that “every F-35 built contains some Australian parts and components.”

In the Netherlands a court ordered the government to stop the shipment of F-35 parts to Israel in February because of the risk that they will be used in serious violations of international humanitarian law.

Israel’s bombardment is rendering Gaza uninhabitable. The Australian Government must do everything in their power to prevent genocide. They must commit to not approve the export of any weapons parts where the Israeli Defence Force is the end user of the export.

Because people all around Australia urged the government to take action, the Government has called for a ceasefire. Already, Canada, Spain, and Belgium have halted arms exports to Israel. Together, we can ensure nothing manufactured in Australia contributes to death and destruction in Gaza.

Sign the petition calling for the Government to not allow the export of any arms to Israel including arms parts.

Amnesty International is calling on all states to impose a comprehensive arms embargo against all parties to the conflict because of the risk that arms will be used to commit or facilitate serious violations of international humanitarian or human rights law. This embargo should include the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer of arms and military materiel, including related technologies, parts and components, technical assistance, training, financial or other assistance.
