26/09/2019: Columbia's National Prosecutor has agreed to an investigation into the threats against Danelly. Thank you to the over 11,000 people who took action calling on Colombian authorities to launch such an investigation! This action is now closed.

Unknown men have been following Colombian rights defender Danelly Estupiñan wherever she goes for months now, and there are reports that people have paid to have her murdered.

She’s reported her safety concerns to the authorities, but they have done nothing to ensure her safety. Sign the petition and urge them to act to ensure Danelly is protected from harm.

Danelly stands up for the rights of Colombia’s afro-descendent population as part of the organisation, Black Community Process. She runs workshops about human rights and how to campaign for communities affected by large infrastructure projects.

The threats to her safety are very real. In July men broke into her house and unknown men also follow her family, taking photos.

Colombia is one of the most dangerous countries for human rights defenders, people pushing for justice, equality, freedom and the other rights we all need to live a good life.

Your voice is vital in defending brave people like Danelly. Last year, the 7-million-strong Amnesty movement helped protect and improve the lives of over 100 human rights defenders worldwide. Together we can help ensure safety for Danelly too.

Call on Colombia’s authorities to launch an immediate investigation into Danelly’s harassment and ensure she is protected.
