82-year-old Iranian-Australian Shokrollah Jebeli is being tortured in prison in Iran.

He was detained in January 2020 because of a financial dispute.

Shokrollah believes that one of his accusers has links to Iran's political and security establishment. His trial has been unfair; a judge has denied him a lawyer of his own choice and has refused to consider evidence that could help his case.

He sleeps on a mattress on the floor, in an overcrowded, insect-infested cell.

He has fallen, chipping his teeth and cutting himself. He suffered a stroke in 2021. He was taken to hospital but was returned to prison the same day.

The authorities have consistently denied him the medication he desperately needs. Amnesty International believes that, by deliberately denying him healthcare, the Iranian authorities are torturing Shokrollah.

From the day he was detained, his family in Australia have called for him to be released. They have spoken to the media, to the Australian and Iranian governments. They need thousands of people to join their call for Shokrollah’s release.

On 8 March 2022, he was found unresponsive by other prisoners. Now, more than ever, they need people to stand with them.

His life is at risk. He urgently needs to be released, so he can be reunited with his family. Take action and call for Iran to release Shokrollah Jebeli.
