RIGHT NOW, AFGHANS ARE FACING UNSPEAKABLE HORRORS AT THE HANDS OF THE TALIBAN

The situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated rapidly these last few days. Since the Taliban has seized power following the collapse of the government, thousands of human rights defenders, in particular women, journalists and academics, are in imminent danger.

In a recent on-the-ground investigation, Amnesty International researchers revealed that Hazara people have been tortured and killed by the Taliban in Ghazni province. The cold-blooded brutality of these killings is a reminder of the Taliban’s past record, and a horrifying indicator of what Taliban rule may bring.

We have already been approached by many people at risk, in particular women, who are fearing Taliban rule.

Our work has never been more urgent or crucial than now. Please donate today.

THROUGH OUR GLOBAL EMERGENCY FUND, YOU CAN SAVE LIVES

Amnesty International’s Global Emergency Fund provides life-saving relief to those whose human rights are in danger.

Your gift can help ensure people from Afghanistan who are facing unspeakable horrors at the hands of the Taliban can benefit from advocacy efforts and receive emergency support including:

  • relocation for those in imminent danger
  • urgent medical aid for people displaced by the crisis
  • pressuring the government to provide safe passage

PROTECTING LIVES GLOBALLY AND LOCALLY

As the world's largest human rights organisation, Amnesty International is working with people from Afghanistan globally, but also locally here in Australia.

These latest devastating developments in Kabul make it more critical than ever that the Australian Government step up its efforts to evacuate those still trapped in Afghanistan desperate to flee the Taliban. To fail them now would be an unforgivable betrayal.

Amnesty International is calling on Prime Minister Morrison to act with the utmost urgency to work with President Biden to extend the deadline of evacuation and bring as many people as possible to safety.

Today, you can be part of the rescue. Today, you can donate to help those who are at imminent risk of reprisals.

100% FUNDED BY YOU

This financial independence means we are free to campaign with objectivity and impartiality and to defend human rights worldwide.

All donations of $2 and over are tax deductible in Australia. Please make a donation now and help human rights defenders around the world.
