But despite the heartbreaking result, the referendum has left us in a unique position.
Over six million Australians voted YES. Many thousands of people are now aware, for the very first time, of Indigenous rights issues. Eyes are opening everywhere to the injustice at the heart of our legal system – and the disproportionate impact our discriminatory laws and policies have on Indigenous people, especially children.

- Campaigning to raise the age of criminal responsibility right across Australia, in line with other states and international human rights standards.
- Lobbying for justice reinvestment programs, so that vital culturally appropriate, diversion programs that are proven to be far more effective than prison receive the funding they urgently need.
- Maintaining pressure on our government to finally implement all 339 recommendations made by the 1991 Royal Commission into Black Deaths in Custody in a meaningful way.
