IMPRISONMENT. TORTURE. DEATH - DEMAND PROTECTION FOR IRANIAN HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS TODAY!

Thousands of Iranians, in every corner of the country, are taking to the streets to fight for a society based on justice and equality - only to be met with ruthless violence from authorities. As of 9 December 2022, Amnesty has recorded the names and details of at least 44 children killed with absolute impunity. There were many more injured in the Iranian authorities’ unrelenting and brutal crackdown.

The recorded victims include children as young as 2 years old. Thirteen of these children were killed in a single day – ‘Bloody Friday’, 30 September 2022 – the deadliest day so far of security forces’ violent response to Iranian citizens’ lawful protests.

Children from Iran’s Baluchi and Kurdish minorities constitute the majority of the recorded victims. This is an extreme example of the systemic discrimination and persecution that minorities have suffered for decades in Iran.

The Iranian authorities’ shocking record of human rights abuses has been well-documented for decades.  It is entrenched in discrimination and violence against women, LGBTQIA+ people, ethnic minorities and religious communities. Mass arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, unjust imprisonment, torture, and brutal punishments – including flogging, amputation, blinding, and public execution are all violent tools of oppression the Iranian people face every day.

We must act now. Will you stand with the people of Iran as they strive for a future free from brutal repression? Donate Today.
