Demand safety and access to education for Rohingya children
This month, Amnesty released a new report detailing a fresh wave of attacks on the Rohingya population remaining in Myanmar. We have gathered evidence of war crimes, including the abuse, rape and murder of civilians in an on-going campaign of ethnic cleansing.
For the Rohingya who have already fled to Bangladesh, this means there's no going back.
And while the the attacks in Myanmar continue, the rights of Rohingya in Bangladesh are being stripped away too. Children are being barred from attending school, simply for being Rohingya.
“I love education. I don’t want to be uneducated, it’s important. I want to be a doctor to help my society, my country, and my people.”
– 15 year old Bibi, living in Cox Bazar refugee camp
Bibi could be part of a generation that brings stability to this region. Instead, if the Bangladesh government get their way, Bibi and her family could be forced out of mainland Bangladesh and onto a disappearing island. The Bangladesh government is planning to forcibly remove over 100,000 Rohingya people from the relative safety of Cox’s Bazar refugee camp, and move them to a dangerous, cyclone prone island.
All it would take is one storm, and a whole community could be wiped off the map.
Stand with the Rohingya to demand safety and access to education for Rohingya children with a donation today. This is an urgent moment for a population who have already endured decades of persecution. Please send a donation today to demand the Bangladesh government allow Rohingya children back into schools and come up with a better plan than offshore detention on a dangerous island.
