Here at Amnesty International Australia, we’re proud to call ourselves a People Powered movement. No, People Power doesn’t mean we have exercise bikes at our desks that we use to charge up our laptops. In fact a People Powered movement is about getting out from behind our desks and out into our communities!
A People Powered Movement is about everyday people taking action to challenge injustice and demand dignity, freedom and equality for all. It’s founded on the work of passionate volunteers and activists from all around the country.
If you’re ready to step up and become part of our Movement, we’d love to hear from you and let you know how you can get more involved!
We hold bimonthly ‘Get Active: Intro to Activism’ sessions where you can find out more about the work that we do and the different ways that you can get involved to either start or deepen your activism journey with us.
The sessions are relaxed and pretty informal, and are open to anyone at any stage of their activism journey. Whether you’re still new to the world of activism but have a burning desire to do more, or you’re a veteran activist with a basement full of catchy protest placards, there’s a place for you with us!
While you’re here, feel free to check out some of these resources that will give you some starting information on Amnesty International, Human Rights and activism.
